I am a bit of a phone ADDICT; i would switch phones constantly; and when my parents paid for my phone they would get agitated so i opted to switch to prepaid and take a line off their plan. First i had cricket prepaid; it wasn't too bad but not all that, then I got Straight Talk but I wouldn't be able to call certain people for some reason and it was just crappy; then i got Verizon prepaid. Now for 50 bucks a month for unlimited talk text and web wasn't too shabby, but I don't really use my phone to talk; and they don't have different plans. So I changed to virgin mobile; 35 a month for unlimited text and data and such is absolutely perfect and the extra 300 minutes just work because i don't really call but if need be i do i can. With Verizon there was only the unlimited text; and well that wasn't all that. I do have a few spotty areas where my virgin mobile phone goes in and out of reception and it's a bit frustrating. I love my optimus slider; it's absolutely perfect for me. But i do miss the good reception you get with Verizon phones; never had one problem with the reception.

Virgin Mobile is a HORRIBLE company. Every time I get a new card to top-up I have to call them because it won't work properly. If you run out of minutes and top-up early you have to "reset" your plan online yourself or else it charges you $.10 a minute. I don't understand why it wouldn't manually top-up. Also my phone, the LG touch, is constantly calling/texting names different than the one I have selected. Customer service is also terrible. They are rude, patronizing, disrespectful and unhelpful. I feel taken advantage of.

Virgin is the worst service ever. Phone did not work as described in manual. Ask for replacement told I would recd in 3-5 days. Never happen. Called back told it ship would be 5 days. Never Happen. Called again told no phone was being shipped. So I returned my within 30 days and told credit to credit card after 72 hours of receiving phone. Never happened. Called again told we receive credit 7 to 10 days. Never Happen Now i filed a dispute with Credit Card. Unreliable Customer Service.

Virgin mobile sucks. Slow data on every phone except the optimus v. Unfortunately the optimus is now considered old and slow and you can't stream videos from the browser as it is not flash capable and using an app like skyfire is hit and miss. They are going to start throttling their already slow speeds starting march 13, 2012. So kiss you tube and games goodbye. Their flagship phone the triumph which i have is plagued with issues on it's stock operating system. Even with rooting and updated software the reception is unfixable as it is a hardware issue. Out only has one radio 1900mhz. No fall back radio like must Androids. So its either good signal or none at all. Other than that i love my triumph. Too bad its on virgin mobile. Bad service just got worse. I can find another place to take my hard earned money.

I’ve had Virgin Mobile for 4+ years with very few problems. I currently have the LG Optimus phone. The phone has minor glitches but it still beats paying 4 times as much for service with one of the major carriers (I’m grandfathered into the $25 per month rate). Any time I’ve called them for assistance they’ve been very helpful.

I've never had anything close to these issues. My service has been continuous with no need to contact virgin directly. The only issue I've had has been with the device itself.

i THOUGHT it would be an awesome idea to get virgin mobile because it was sooooo cheap and had the perfect plan. 300 min, unlimited text and web for only $25! what a deal... what a MISTAKE! i paid over $200 for a shitty phone that freezes up ALL the time, crappy service both phone and company wise. the last straw was when the website didn't work for over a month so i had to go to the local store to pay my bill, well i told them i wanted to restart my plan and they topped up instead so it wasnt my fault, then they wouldnt let me use my phone for anything because i had $21 left. i had to top up $10 or nothing. they wouldn't refund me or let me pay the $4 difference to restart my plan. after arguing with the lady on the phone for 30 min they finally credited me and restarted my plan. but did i mention this isn't the first time this has happened but baby it is the last cuz virgin mobile won't be seeing me as a customer EVER AGIAN! going back to at&t

I have virgin mobile at this point in time. I thought it was a great idea at the time. The service has been lacking as of late; call quality is great. Data connection is the big problem. I want the pricing of virgin mobile, but the reliability of Verizon wireless. It is true; you can't have your cake and eat it too! Verizon cost too much and cell phone companies are giving the people what they want; a service that cost way too much. Not only do cell phone companies get to rape customers with their cell phone / data plans, but they are preventing people from tethering their device to their laptops as well. THIS IS GOING TOO FAR! If people didn't act so crazy about new shiny things that came out, we wouldn't have to deal with these problems. Whatever happened to paying for a reasonable service and getting what you pay for? The average person uses less than 2GB of data, yet the data plans are going to the extreme!

Virgin Mobile "use to" have one of the best services around. Now they are the worst. Buyer be ware. I went into there site and told them not to charge my credit card because I had $24 in the prepaid account. They charged my creit card anyway and will not refund my $20. I closed the account and not only lost the $20 there charged by mistake but the $24 that was in the account to begin with. Three phone calls to there service center (must be in Mexico or someplace) and they are not helpful at all especially supervisor Logan Vega.

Virgin Mobile Prepaid shorts your minutes blatantly. The account info on their website shows every phone call you made and duration, but the "cover page" shows that you've used more minutes, and so do the warning messages you receive on the phone. I've been following this discrepancy for as long as I've used VM, which is now just under a year. The latest ripoff tells me I've used 285 minutes, but I calculated 262 used (3 times to make sure). I'm sure the itemized calls they show round up, so that's no excuse. And you must call their customer service to fix the account -- emailing them is a wasted effort because the email CSR's are in another country using American names. I do not recommend VM. They need to go out of business.

Virgin Mobile are Dishonest Crooks!
I relocated to Montana and was told that Virgin Mobile would be providing service to the area shortly. I continued to pay to keep the service active and several hundred dollars and months later - still no service! I was offered a refund, which I never received!

This is the response you will get when your phone is not active for 4 days. So every 24 hours you can try again and this is what you will get. You wont get your phone activated, you will pay for it though. My phone is still not active after 5 days but I get this email and I am told they are sorry but no active phone!!!!! DO NOT GO TO VIRGIN MOBILE!!!!! Pay the extra $5 and get a service that works. I'm now using 2 cans and a string which works better than my phone!!!!

This is a horrible company to deal with. There is no service. They don't have enough towers so good luck getting signal and you can forget their customer service people not just because their English is hard to understand but because they don't have American sense and it's not their fault, they can't give what they don't have, and in the countries where these people are the customer can kiss off and that's how they approach their jobs. Really awful stuff! I moved my number after just one week of no signal. I am absolutely determined to get my pro-rated refund for service I never had. What do you have when you don't have signal?

I am about 50 emails now. I refuses to speak to them because they just lie. I am on my 3rd replacement phone! When you call there you can't get higher management. They tell you not possible??? you can't get emails address to management. They give you a mailing address after asking 100 times. When your phone breaks after spending 300.000 dollar you get a refurbished phone class A or B. Unless it is in the first 30 days. Which I missed by 5 days due to they could not activate the phone! What a joke. Here is the funny. They don't even know their product, I am being told I got this phone on the 3/06/2011. They won't fix it either! Because they said their records are not wrong. I must be some really important person if i can get a phone 4 months before its release date. O i was told i didn't activate it till the 23 of July! So i am losing out on my warranty too! I am at a loss for words I really do not know how they are in business!!!!

Greetings,
Virgin Mobile has the worst customer service I have experienced. They have the call centers outside the USA.The people cannot do problem determination. I was a SPRINT customer for 10 years and had no problem with their service. I switched to save money but it was a big mistake. Do not give business to Virgin Mobile. They will be out of business if they do not bring the customer service back to the USA.

All cell phone companies are crooks like sprint, but virgin mobile is a close 2nd they take your minutes and reception is the pits. My wife and I tolerated them for 18 months and we switched to net10 and straight talk reception is better and thats it. Customer service is very bad like sprint. It would be nice to have someone speak english and be honest and not lie. I don't have time to make repeated calls back for any company to do there job right. I don't know about everyone else but I don't need to talk to someone in india, asia or any were else. JUST HERE IN THE USA We all need to make a statement for change! If we want things to get better.

DO NOT GIVE VIRGIN MOBILE YOUR BUSINESS! we should all start a class action law suit..And call the news media who investigates crooked, dishonest opportunists such as this company! They shouldn't get away with ripping so many of us off.I could go on and on about how they stole monies from both my husband and I, but it is the same type of story as is printed here over and over again.we need to do what we can to stop VM from blatantly stealing from consumers like they are doing every day that they are allowed to.

HORRIBLE. Have had nothing but issues with the service, very poor reception as others state and the phones are of course not of the latest technology, which is fine, SO LONG AS THEY WORK! I got my wife the Samsung Android phone and the thing does NOT send MMS, sporadically sends texts, struggles with e-mail and has extremely slow broadband service. Dropped calls are not very frequent but frequent enough that the whole package is garbage.

If you're reading this review because you are thinking about getting Virgin Mobile, then you should carefully get all of the facts. I recently bought a $300 smart phone at Best Buy and activiated it on Virgin Mobile. When I was in town, the service somewhat worked, but when I went back out to my house no service (inside or outside my house). I had paid for the 30 day all you can use voice/text/data. When I called Virgin on my other phone they told me to take the phone back to Best Buy and they would get my money back from Virgin. When I returned it Best Buy said they have nothing to do with it. It ended up I returned the phone but after several calls to Virgin and being passed around on endless calls I finally reached a manager. The Manager said they would have it escaladed to upper management and within 72 hours I would get a reply. That was 2 weeks ago. Not only did they charge me the $60 for one months service but have made two $10 withdraws from my account.
Also be aware that Sprint owns Virgin but it is not the Sprint network that you will be on. So if your friend has Sprint don't expect the same service with Virgin.
I have since went to T-mobile Prepaid and love it!

Service worked one day at my home, then shrank to nothing. Called customer service, who kept informing be that they are "sorry" but they are unable to refund me because I went over their 15 minute limit. I tried to fight for the $35 I paid. The company does not want to provide you with good phone service; it wants you to buy their product just long enough to where you "can't" get a refund. If you live in an area where you're "pretty sure" it will work, then fine, risk it. But I'd rather not have you waste your time with their scripts of "sorry, I can't help you." Just nonsense.

Virgin Mobile is incredibly dishonest and sexist! I was lured into getting a virgin mobile phone by the promise of a no contract, $40/month plan. They promise $40 flat, no hidden fees, no surprises. Yet, almost every month I have a surprise charge. I've tried paying with my credit card, with their "Top Up" cards, via internet, via phone, and nearly every time there is some problem that causes me to be charged extra. They've charged me overage charges (though I've never once even gotten close to using up the 1200 minutes of the plan), they've billed my credit card twice, they've charged me and then not restarted my plan on several occasions (meaning they processed the charge and then told me that I have to pay again to restart the plan), and they've made up random "taxes" that I need to pay. What's worse is that every time I call, the person on the line is condescending, unhelpful, demeaning and is often not "able" to help me. Yet, when my boyfriend calls, 10 minutes later, the person who helps him is helpful, nice, and able to help him right away. The last time I called I spoke with two people (an employee and a supervisor), and I spent 20 minutes arguing with them about why they suddenly decided to charge "government taxes" and they spent 20 minutes telling me that if I did not want to pay taxes that I should contact my government. In the end they refused to help me because they said that there was absolutely NO WAY they could restart my plan without charging me these "taxes" as they are imposed by my government and they had to follow the laws of my government (note that they kept saying "your government" not "the government" or "our government" which really made me feel like they were hostile towards me because they dislike my government and they were the ones that had a problem with my government). Yet, 10 minutes later my boyfriend called and he asked them to restart my plan for $40 and they said "ok no problem" and done. He asked the guy, "sir, what is the amount that will be billed to the card?", "$40" he said. "$40 even, no taxes or any other charges?" my boyfriend asked. "No. $40 even" the guy replied. And I wasted 20 minutes of my time and got yelled at over something that my boyfriend was able to get done in less than 5 minutes and no one even argued with him. But, thinking back, every time I've had a problem with them and they can't help me, it's always resolved after my boyfriend calls. So I don't know what the Virgin Mobile experience is like for men, but if you're a woman, be prepared to be treated like you are not a valuable customer and like no one cares what you have to say. Also be prepared to pay hidden fees.

They wouldn't release my wife's # so she could switch AARP senior friendly phone after the company tried for 9 days. I was going to switch my Virgin plan to the phone she wasn't going to use. They just played hardball. So Virgin, my LG phone is going in the garbage with any future phones or service from you. Stay away from them, service is bad, I had a previous bad incident with service.BH

I have never written a review for a anything, but I have had enough trouble with this company I thought it was only fair to let others know. As great as the no contract service is, it is definately not worth battling customer service for start up or any problems you may encounter while you do have service. The no contract is a good idea, but they need to fix customer service to be worth your time and money.

STEALING MY MINUTES!!! everyone please read
Pros: cheap service, "minutes tracker" app (GET IT!)
Cons: deceptive!!! you better keep real good track of your minutes (unless your phone actually has a calls log that will show you EXACTLY the time duration of your calls including the seconds - incoming & outgoing!! cuz my Samsung Intercept does not!!)
Summary: I installed a "minutes tracker" app on my smartphone and low & behold... my minutes used counter kept showing 1 minute longer than my actual time on calls. I know they round up so if I talk for a minute and 45 seconds... I will "use" 2 minutes, right??!! WRONG!!! My call log on the internet kept showing an extra minute. Like the 1.45 call... 3 minutes were taken away?!!! I don't have to be a genius to figure out that when you round up 1.45, it's 2 not 3!!! I have called customer service on this several times since I have actually been keeping track (since last week) and keep getting the run around. The 1st time I called was a few days ago. The man kept trying to tell me the usage was correct and I can see it on the website... DUH that is how I KNOW they are charging me more than what I am using. I got a little mad and explained slowly so he would "understand" and he said to keep track for a few days and if it keeps happening, call back and they will open a troubleshooting ticket and investigate and "apologized for inconvenience". OK I gave them a chance. Called back yesterday after again 2 calls I received were a minute more than my actual time on call - with the rounding factored in! Called back, said it was still happening. Man said he was going to open a ticket & investigate, give them 24-48 hrs & call back for status. Also wanted to know what the phone # was that this was happening on. I do not use my phone often (actually barely!) so the only one I could tell for sure this was happening on was the 1 person that I actually talk to. Did not see the point in him having this info - since it is on the website anyway but OK I'll oblige! Gave it to him. Got a call this AM from someone else and was on the call for a total of 45 seconds. I waited a while and checked the internet log on my account & once again, not 1 minute was gone but YES 2!! I called back to get status because obviously the problem has not been fixed. I got a little irate when the man said there was no ticket in the system!!! R U F-IN KIDDING ME! HE once again tried to tell me I can look at my usage online and see how long I was on the phone. I became furious and told him their system is incorrect and they better fix it quick because i was tired of getting minutes taken away that I am not using. All the while, having the rounding up factored in!! He said he would open a ticket to investigate, I was told yesterday that one was going to be opened so I guess we'll see. Oh and this time he said it will take 3-5 business days. Wow, policy changes quick! Yesterday I was told it would be 24-48 hours! HMMMM!!! I do not have the unlimited talk plan so yes this is a big deal to me, as it should be to everyone! BEWARE!!!!

I've had Virgin Mobile since November 2010, with varying results. The LG Rumor Touch I bought is sometimes fun, sometimes very frustrating. The touch screen is erratic and troublesome, and surfing online can be bad news as the unit may freeze up over and over. It's a great talking and texting phone, but not for much else. Two replacement phones have proven this.
Customer service can be a nightmare, but I have some suggestions. Never contact them when you're in a hurry, and call from someplace quiet. Set aside thirty minutes for minor issues and one hour for everything else. If you finish earlier, all the better. If you have a horrible connection and can't understand them, ask them to use the handset instead of the headset; in my case, the difference has been like night and day.
Calling at 4 a.m. PST has led to my call being answered by call centers in Mexico and Nicaragua, who gave me better service than the Philippines. If the Philippines answers I ask them to transfer me to Mexico or Nicaragua, and sometimes they do. Also, when they ask me to repeat the same stuff I've told the first three people I talked to on that call, I just tell them it is in the previous "tech's" notes, and they can read it aloud.
I try to be compassionate as well, remembering that these folks live in poor countries and probably need a job more than we can imagine. They are obviously not trained very well, and who knows how they learned the English they do know.
Last, my phone service thru VM has been very good, which is the real bottom line with a cell phone, I think. But they also need to be held accountable for their customer service and phone quality, so I give them *** overall.
